Conservation planning step(s) when this would be used: Preparing to Plan.
Description of tool use: these planning preparation resources help facilitators and the core
organizing team ensure the right questions are asked, and the right preparations made, to maximise
the chance of a successful planning process. The items included are not an exhaustive list, nor are
they all needed for every project, but they should serve the needs of most species conservation
planning projects. The resources include; a month-by-month, step-by-step guide to preparing for
and delivering a species conservation planning project; a summary of month-by-month milestones;
and an example of a series of pre-workshop meeting agendas designed to support a core organizing
team to prepare for a planning workshop.
- Planning steps and timeline: 20 planning steps and an associated timeline for preparing and delivering a CPSG-style planning process.
- Pre-planning meeting agendas for the core organizing team: sample agenda topics and expected outputs.
Strengths and weaknesses, when to use and interpret with caution: These resources are designed
to work with CPSG-style planning workshops and may need further editing for use by other organisations or planning methods.
Expertise required to use the tool: the resources are for facilitators with an understanding of species conservation planning practice, no other specialist expertise is required.
Data requirements: No specific data requirements.
