Success Stories

With nearly a third of assessed species on the IUCN Red List heading toward extinction, it is easy to feel discouraged. Habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, and invasive species all contribute to today’s biodiversity crisis. But there are success stories that show what’s possible when dedicated people come together to help species survive. There really is hope for endangered species in the wild.

Each story highlights real-life examples of CPSG’s work when a government agency, a zoo, or another conservation organization turned to us for support. Each case faced different, very specific challenges, but they all knew that our scientifically sound, consensus-based methods could help them find solutions that turned the tide for threatened species.

Our principles of sound science, neutral facilitation, and commitment to collaboration are key to these successes. But these stories also belong to the local communities, scientists, field researchers, government representatives, NGOs, and other conservation professionals who brought their passion and expertise to the table. These are their stories.
