María is a Guatemalan biologist and limnologist by training, a conservation advocate, and a creative communicator. After her years in academia and fieldwork, she realized all the information needed to drive change is there - we’re just not reaching the right people. The transition to science communication was inevitable. Her passion for communicating science in innovative ways has led her to roles from freelancing to industry, where she merges her love for writing, art, and technology to create strategic digital content, stories, and data visualizations that awaken interest and inspire action on climate change, biodiversity, and STEM education.
On the side, she produces and co-hosts a weekly STEM podcast (in Spanish), EpiSTEMas, that aims to make STEM more accessible and entertaining for the Spanish-speaking world and give Latin American scientists and engineers an engaging platform to share their story.
