Using the CPSG Tools Library

The CPSG Tools Library is a compilation of tools and resources frequently used by CPSG facilitators to guide diverse groups through the steps involved planning. The tools fall into six categories:

Tool Types

Organization: Tools to help those responsible for workshop logistics.

Process Design: Tools to help design an effective workshop process including identifying key participants.

Data Assembly: Tools to help bring information together about the species of interest, risks to its future, and current conservation activities.

Data Analysis: Tools to help evaluate current species status, the relative importance of identified risks to its future, and potential impacts of alternative management strategies.

Facilitation: Tools to support participants during the planning process, tools for synthesizing diverse information and for developing insights among groups to improve decision-making

Visualization: Tools to assist with identifying patterns and relationships in information

Finding tools for planning steps

Some tools are for general use across most or all steps in a planning process, others are for use in just one step.

  • In the Tools Table, the steps for which a tool is most useful are shaded.
  • By clicking on the step of interest, users can find all of the tools useful to that step.

Tool details

Clicking on the name of a tool takes the user to further details, including the strengths and weaknesses of the tool and examples of past uses in species conservation planning.
