New grants, partnerships, and more success stories mark our continued journey to plan for species conservation and recovery.
In 2023, CPSG established new training initiatives and collaborative projects worldwide, and we reached new milestones in species conservation. In this report, you can dive into updates from the Kenyan Threatened Trees Consortium, the Mexican wolf, the bowmouth guitarfish, lizards of Christmas Island, and many more species updates!
In summary:
- We facilitated 32 conservation planning workshops for 302 species across 34 countries.
- We secured a new IMLS Grant for capacity building in collaboration with the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). This project, part of the SAFE program, leverages the expertise of AZA-accredited institutions to connect zoos and aquariums with species conservation projects in the wild.
- We advanced the Global Species Action Plan Platform, a tool designed to align conservation efforts of the parties of the CBD towards the Global Biodiversity Framework targets.
