The Conception Bank silver boa is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Considered the world’s most endangered boa, the threat of extinction in the next decade is high. The primary threats to the species include range contraction, potential exploitation by collectors, and natural disasters. In 2019, a group of 24 individuals representing five governmental and conservation organizations gathered in Nassau, Bahamas, to develop a comprehensive plan to protect the Conception Bank silver boa.

The workshop report details the Species Conservation Action Plan, which outlines the next steps for stakeholders involved in silver boa conservation. Priority recommendations include: 

• Increasing boa habitat patch size and quantity 
• Improving the protection of the silver boa habitat 
• Eliminating detrimental human impacts to the species 
• Establishing an ex situ population
